The Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers (CASLT) is pleased to present a self-matching, self-directed mentorship program that connects teachers new to teaching French as a second language* to experienced colleagues. This pan-Canadian program supports new teachers or teachers new to French as a second language assignments as they survive and thrive in their new roles.
* French as a second language includes teachers of Core or Basic French, FSL courses, Intensive French, Post-Intensive French, Extended French, and all French Immersion programs.
The Mentorship Program strengthens teachers’ second language pedagogical skills and knowledge. More confident and competent teachers can positively impact the Kindergarten to Grade 12 French as a second language classroom, enhance the profession, and contribute to improved French as a second language teacher retention.

The Mentorship Program’s flexibility meets the individual needs of volunteer mentees and mentors. Teachers may join at any time during the school year, which ends in June, and they choose and direct their own mentoring relationships.
